Battleship New Jersey

Historic Warship & Interactive Museum in Camden, NJ

Battleship New Jersey is one of the most unique and impressive family attractions near Philadelphia. This massive Iowa-class battleship served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Today, it’s docked along the Delaware River in Camden and open to the public as a floating museum.

Visitors explore nine decks of this 45,000-ton battleship. You can walk through the crew’s quarters, massive 16-inch gun turrets, the bridge, the engine rooms, and even the captain’s quarters. The self-guided audio tour (included with admission) brings the ship’s history to life with stories from sailors who served aboard.

Kids especially love the hands-on experiences — climbing into gun turrets, sitting in the captain’s chair, and exploring the tight corridors. The ship also offers special guided tours, including the Topside Tour and the thrilling Munitions Tour (additional fee).

This attraction works great for Chol Hamoed or family day trips from New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania. It combines history, engineering, and adventure in one unforgettable visit. Plan to spend 2–3 hours exploring the ship.

The Battleship is open daily with seasonal hours. It’s easily accessible from Philadelphia via the RiverLink Ferry or a short drive across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
